About sauna

Puusaun is a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike. Sauna is an intrinsic part of Finnish culture, and no visit to Finland is complete without a traditional wood-fired sauna experience.

In Finnish, we have a word for open water swimming in winter: avanto. The health benefits of avanto (or 'ice swimming') are just starting to be explored outside of Finland, but here we already know that nothing compares to the feeling of a warm sauna combined with a dip in the cool water.

In times past, sauna was the place where life began and ended. All manner of deals and bargains have been struck in saunas, and to this day our politicians and business leaders genuinely use sauna to combine work and pleasure.

In sauna, everyone is equal and our differences are respected.
